How to choose a greenhouse for your garden
For a home garden or smallholding, the right greenhouse fits your site, gives you comfortable working space and suits what you want to grow. Start with the space and your needs, then compare models and prices.
1. What will you use the greenhouse for?
Whether you want seedlings, tomatoes, cucumbers or a mixed vegetable garden, think about the space needed for beds and paths. A larger greenhouse is not always more convenient for home use: it means more growing space to maintain, water and ventilate. For a smallholding, also consider carrying crates, tools and materials through the doors.
A greenhouse provides sheltered growing space, but crops and seasons depend on the climate and your care. Do not choose a model on the assumption of the same yield in every part of Bulgaria.
2. Measure the width, length and access
Measure between fences, buildings and established plants, allowing clear space at the doors and around the sides for maintenance. Our catalogue states the actual model width: different metal models include widths of 2.10, 2.64, 2.75, 2.99, 3.14 and 4 m.
For a narrower site, consider the 2.10 m wide NOVA VERTICAL or 2.75 m wide CASA ECO. With more width available, compare the 3.14 m GAUDI and 4 m AGRICULTOR DOMÉSTICO. They are different models, not exact substitutes for an arbitrary “3×4” size.
Metal models in the current catalogue offer lengths of 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 m. The chosen length and model width determine the floor area together; check both in the configurator. If space is limited, confirm the dimensions and door orientation first.
3. Metal or wooden frame?
Polycarbonate greenhouses with galvanized steel frames form the main garden range. For a different appearance, the NATURA wooden collection offers widths of 1.80, 2.15 and 2.60 m. Available lengths and kit contents vary between models.
Do not assume that the cover, accessories or fixings from a metal greenhouse also fit a wooden one. Read the specific product page and confirm what is included and how installation is arranged.
4. What does 1 m or 0.67 m arch spacing mean?
This is the distance between adjacent arches on the relevant metal models. At 0.67 m, arches sit closer together. Your choice affects the configuration and price, so compare the same length and cover when assessing the alternatives.
Closer arch spacing does not remove the need for anchoring or snow clearance. Discuss your site conditions and follow the model instructions. A snow illustration or destructive test does not establish the permitted working load.
5. Cover and ventilation
The metal-model configurator currently offers 4 mm polycarbonate. The 6 mm option is marked unavailable and cannot be ordered through it. Materials of the same thickness do not necessarily have the same properties: confirm the cover and kit contents for your chosen model.
Plan ventilation around sunlight, crops and how often you are on site. Choose the metal ventilation window to match your arch spacing. The automatic opener is a separate product; confirm compatibility and select no more than one opener for each window.
6. Delivery, base and installation
AgroFIX offers free greenhouse delivery throughout Bulgaria. Agree the address, access and unloading arrangements beforehand. You can assemble the kit yourself using the model instructions, or request professional installation as a separate service.
Discuss ground preparation and anchoring before ordering. The correct method depends on the model and site; a universal foundation tip is not enough. Read our delivery and installation information.
A checklist before choosing
- Available width and length, door clearance and maintenance access.
- Preferred frame material, model and length.
- Arch spacing and compatible ventilation.
- Address, access, ground preparation and preferred installation method.
- Confirmed kit contents, availability and final price.
